tetheredhands Every once in a blue moon you come across the perfect album... a transformative experience from beginning to end, not a hair out of place. I did not expect to discover this little known gem, but now I will cherish it forever. Favorite track: Slow Heat Death.

Peter Jones Quality, rocking prog. It's hard to put into words where this fits - it's unique in its approach, as FASFH tend to be. A great listen.

Ben Leathley Flies Are Spies From Hell make epic, piano-driven post-rock which really, well, rocks. There is so much energy and enthusiasm in all of the tracks that just sweep away the listener. This also translates into an electric live performance, which I still fondly remember. Amazing post-rock and standing out from the crowd!

about

"[For fans of] Aphex Twin... Baroness... Slint... Tortoise... This is emotional music done right, it packs the right emotive punch and is both heart rending and soul stirring." circuitsweet.co.uk - Full review: tinyurl.com/psdjbwh

"There isn’t a weak song on Underdog Underfoot. It’s an exhilarating listen... You’ll be hard pushed to hear a better post-rock album this year, phenomenal stuff." 9.5/10 altdialogue.com - Full review: tinyurl.com/oypmufp

"Dynamic and exhilarating, they’re unlikely to remain underdogs for long." 8/10 whisperinandhollerin.com - Full review: tinyurl.com/npp34oe

"Everything they do seems to be saturated with a feeling of exuberant abandon... There’s a bit in ‘Beg For Sleep’ that’s just so beautiful it made me cry.... Right now it sounds like a shoe-in for my Album of the Year list. It’s everything I wanted it to be." echoesanddust.com - Full review: tinyurl.com/p3544ne

"[A] textured and progressive sound... with crescendos of guitar interplaying with elaborate piano melodies... All cascades and building noise... It’s an assured and carefully crafted release, adding it’s own personality to a crowded genre. Here’s to the next ten years..." whenthehornblows.blogspot.co.uk - Full review: tinyurl.com/o2dl5gx

"The energetic drum beats in the beginning of the track, 'Imagine Your Murder' sets an evil grin on my face every time I listen to it, whereas tracks 'Slow Heat Death' and 'Fail Better' has been on top of my playlist for quite some while. It is however, the sixth track 'Beg for Sleep' that completely swipes me off my feet. There is something about the brilliant usage of piano and the cascading tempo that gives me an odd sense of satisfaction and achievement." Post-Rock Essentials
