“Initially, it was to be a lot more brutal and noisy but the title “Cocoon” kept coming back to me and the remix became warmer, more amniotic. There’s a memory I often have of being an early teenager, lying in bed watching Match of the Day and after the first few matches, I’d get drowsy and start to fall into sleep. I’d feel that lovely sense of sleep surrounding me as I could still hear the distant sound of the commentator explaining the action of the televised match. Towards the end of the remix, I wanted to evoke that same feeling so I brought in some of the band’s guitar again, deep in the mix - almost far away. The top and tail of the track was devised to give the whole thing a slightly unsettling tone. A fun experiment mixing the slightly creepy with comfortable safety.” Neil Milton.
